Anchiornithinae is a possible clade of paravians whose taxonomic position has been problematic. The group might be a subfamily of Troodontidae, Archaeopterygidae, or an assemblage of dinosaurs that are an evolutionary grade within Avialae. The clade was named by Xu et al. (2016) and defined as for "the most inclusive clade including Anchiornis but not Archaeopteryx, Gallus, Troodon, Dromaeosaurus, Unenlagia, or Epidexipteryx".
