Anastasia Sergeyevna Pavlyuchenkova (Russian: Анастаси́я Серге́евна Павлюче́нкова, Russian pronunciation: [ɐnəstɐˈsʲijə sʲɪrˈɡʲejɪvnə pəvlʲʊˈtɕɛnkəvə]; born 3 July 1991) is a Russian tennis player who turned professional in December 2005. An accomplished junior player, she achieved career-high ranking of world no. 13 on 4 July 2011 and is currently ranked world no. 27 by the WTA as of 16 January 2017. As such, Pavlyuchenkova is the current fourth highest-ranked Russian in the WTA.
Pavlyuchenkova has achieved the feat of making the quarterfinals at each of the four Grand Slams, reaching the quarterfinals of the French Open and US Open in 2011, at Wimbledon in 2016 and most recently at the Australian Open in 2017. She has also won eight career singles titles, her biggest coming at the Premier-level events of the Open GDF Suez and the Kremlin Cup, both in 2014.
Pavlyuchenkova has enjoyed significant success in doubles as well, reaching the quarterfinals at all four Grand Slams and winning five titles in the discipline, her biggest title coming at the 2013 Mutua Madrid Open where she partnered Lucie Šafářová.
Pavlyuchenkova was born in Samara, RSFSR, Soviet Union, to Sergey and Marina on 3 July 1991, as one of two children. Her father was a rower and her mother a swimmer. Her brother Alexander also played professional tennis for a time. Pavlyuchenkova's grandmother played professional basketball, and her grandfather was an elite umpire in that sport for USSR.
