Thap Than (Thai: ทัพทัน) is a district (Amphoe) in the northern part of Uthai Thani Province, northern Thailand.

In a Siamese-Burmese war of Ayutthaya era, the troop of Ayutthaya followed the Burmese troop and reached them in the area of the district. They fought together and the Siamese troop won finally. Then the people named the area Ban Thap Than.

1906 the district was officially renamed from Nong Kradi to Thap Than.

In 1917, Thap Than district was official added to be a part of Uthai Thani Province.

Neighboring districts are (from the southeast clockwise) Mueang Uthai Thani, Nong Khayang, Nong Chang, Lan Sak, Sawang Arom of Uthai Thani Province and Krok Phra of Nakhon Sawan Province.

The district is subdivided into 10 subdistricts (tambon), which are further subdivided into 90 villages (muban). The subdistrict municipality (thesaban tambon) Thap Than covers the tambon Thap Than, Thung Na Thai, Khao Khi Foi and Nong Ya Plong. The subdistrict municipality Taluk Du covers the tambon Taluk Du. There are further 5 Tambon administrative organizations (TAO).
