"American Dream" is a song by Jakatta. The track samples two Thomas Newman pieces from the soundtrack for the film American Beauty: "Any Other Name" and "Dead Already". A remix was released in 2001. Unusually for a dance track, the majority of the track is in 6/4 time instead of the much more common 4/4.
The single peaked at #3 in the UK and #63 in Australia. The 2001 remix re-release peaked at #63 in the UK.
It is used in a segment of the BBC documentary Inventions That Changed the World, as well as the Channel 4 documentary series The Secret Millionaire, and has featured on various television adverts.
