Alva is a census-designated place (CDP) in Lee County, Florida, United States situated on the Caloosahatchee River. The population was 2,182 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Cape Coral-Fort Myers, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 18.8 square miles (49 km2), of which 18.0 square miles (47 km2) is land and 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2) (4.47%) is water.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2,182 people, 912 households, and 673 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 121.5 people per square mile (46.9/km²). There were 1,017 housing units at an average density of 56.7/sq mi (21.9/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.33% White, 0.18% African American, 0.32% Native American, 0.18% Asian, 0.14% Pacific Islander, 1.24% from other races, and 1.60% from two or more races.
