Almer Charter Township is a charter township of Tuscola County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,101 at the 2010 census. It is the only charter township in the Thumb region of Michigan.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 34.6 square miles (90 km2), of which 34.6 square miles (90 km2) is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10 km2) (0.06%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 3,023 people, 1,112 households, and 806 families residing in the township. The population density was 87.3 per square mile (33.7/km²). There were 1,197 housing units at an average density of 34.6 per square mile (13.3/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 96.96% White, 0.20% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.46% Asian, 0.69% from other races, and 1.12% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.65% of the population.
There were 1,112 households out of which 33.5% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 59.7% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 27.5% were non-families. 24.1% of all households were made up of individuals and 10.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.54 and the average family size was 2.97.
