Auxiliary Bishop of Rockville Center (1986-1995)
Alfred John Markiewicz (May 17, 1928 – January 9, 1997) was an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who served as bishop of the Diocese of Kalamazoo, Michigan from 1994 to 1997.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Markiewicz was ordained to the priesthood on June 6, 1953 for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Brooklyn. Later he was incardinated into the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre.
Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop of the Rockville Centre Diocese and he was consecrated bishop on September 17, 1986.
On November 22, 1994, Bishop Markiewicz was appointed bishop of the Kalamazoo Diocese, where he died, while in office.
