Alexander Muchnik

Alexander Muchnik (Russian: Александр Геннадьевич Мучник; Ukrainian: Олександр Геннадійович Мучник; born May 10, 1954 in Odessa, USSR) - a lawyer,human rights activist and journalist.

One of the founders and president of the first non-profitable non-governmental charitable organization in the Soviet Union Dr. Haass Social Assistance Fund.

President of the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights.

In 1981 graduated with honors from the Faculty of Law, Ilya Mechnikov State University of Odessa (presently: Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University).

Area of scientific research: Constitutional law, philosophy of law, Theory and History of State and Law of Soviet Union, organization of public authority.

President of the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights.

In 2002 he was appointed adviser to Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Scientific Advisor on human rights and constitutional law of the President of Ukraine (2002 - 2005).
