Alexander "Alex" Burke (born April 12, 1983, in Los Angeles, California) is an American composer, musician and occasional actor. He is the current keyboardist for the band Save Ferris (2013–present) and the co-founder of the band Magnolia Memoir and is the band’s keyboardist, co-composer and co-songwriter. Alex also performs the keyboard, mandolin and piano on Billy Ray Cyrus' 2016 release Thin Line.
He is a former musical director at Chicago’s comedy showcase The Second City, UCB, IO, and Baby Wants Candy and has been the musical director for several internationally televised shows and network specials including the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. As an actor and musician he has appeared in several specials and series including A Michael Buble Christmas, The Amanda Show and Pauly Shore's Vegas Is My Oyster. As a teenager he was the keyboardist in the pop rock group 24/4 alongside Drake Bell. Alexander is also a music producer and the co-owner of Werewolf Heart Studios in Hollywood California.
Burke grew up in the OC and attended Woodbridge High School. While in school he joined Drake Bell's band Drake 24/4. They performed on Nickelodeon's "The Amanda Show", the Palladium, and throughout the west coast. After leaving the band, Burke moved to Chicago to attend Columbia College where he received a degree in Composing. While living in Chicago he was hired by Second City Chicago and Improv Olympic where he toured and performed with Michael O'Brien, T. J. Miller, Keegan-Michael Key and Dan Bakkedahl. He moved back to Los Angeles in 2006 to attend USC were he received a post-baccalaureate in film composing.
Burke formed the Los Angeles band Magnolia Memoir along with Mela Lee which has released numerous albums and composed for songs and score for films. He has also been a member of the ska band Save Ferris since 2013 and performs regularly with Billy Ray Cyrus, besides recording with him. He has performed on Saturday Night Live and Comedy Central’s Mash Up and with Amy Poehler.
