The Republican Guard (Albanian: Garda e Republikës) was a military unit created on 24 June 1928 with the task of protecting government buildings in the Republic of Albania. The army troops were under the Ministry of Internal Affairs command and guarded government institutions and senior officials. The Guard dissolved on September 2013 and became part of the Albanian Police.
