The magazine was launched in 1994. After two decades of publication under the tenure of its founder and former Editor in Chief, John Wegg, Airways International, Inc. was sold to Enrique Perrella's group, Contact Airways International, Inc., in March, 2014. In 2016, Airways introduced a new website and look for the digital and print publication. The magazine’s publisher and Editor in Chief is Enrique Perrella. The staff is listed on the new website
