The lead single from the album was "Knockin' Boots" which reached number 1 on the US Hot Rap Singles and number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself reached number 40 on the Billboard 200 and number 18 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and featured two other minor singles, "Melt in Your Mouth" and "Nightgown". Ain't No Shame in my Game was certified gold on December 18, 1990.
