Chairman of and CEO Emirates Airline, Dubai Aviation City Corporation, Dubai World, flydubai, Noor Islamic Bank PJSC,
Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum (Arabic: أحمد بن سعيد آل مكتوم), born 1 December 1958, is president of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, CEO and chairman of the Emirates Group and chairman of Dubai World.
The youngest son of former ruler of Dubai Saeed bin Maktoum bin Hasher Al Maktoum, he is the brother of former ruler of Dubai Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum and the uncle of ruler of Dubai Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
Ahmed's career in the aviation industry began in 1985, when he was appointed president of the Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) (the governing body which oversaw the activities of Dubai International and Dubai Duty Free). Emirates, the national carrier, was launched at the same time, with Ahmed appointed chairman.
He is believed to be connected to at least 14 board members in 14 organizations in 14 industries. Ahmed has been called "the man who put Dubai on the global aviation map."
He married Nivin El-Gamal, and they had a child. It was later reported that El-Gamal feared deportation. Court hearings took place, but Ahmed did not attend. Al Maktoum later married a first cousin twice removed (a regional tradition) in 2008.
American Express reportedly rejected Al Maktoum for its credit card. He was interviewed about the work he will do for Expo 2020. On 25 October 2015, Al Maktoum issued a statement commemorating the 30th anniversary of Emirates. On 21 November 2015, he launched the DAFZA Innovation Strategy. In January 2016, Al Maktoum inaugurated the Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Centre.
