Ahmed Shah of Gujarat

Ahmed Shah I was a sultan of Gujarat who ruled from 1411 until his death in 1442. He founded Ahmedabad as the capital of the Gujarat Sultanate in 1412 and also founded Ahmadnagar (now Himatnagar) in 1426.Ahmedabad is named after him. He was buried at Ahmed Shah's Tomb near Manek Chowk, Ahmedabad.

The partially ruined Rudra Mahalaya Temple of Siddhpur was further destroyed and the western part of it converted into a congregational mosque (Jami Mosque) by him in 1414 or 1415.
