The seventh season of the American animated television series Adventure Time, created by Pendleton Ward, began airing on Cartoon Network in the United States on November 2, 2015. The season concluded roughly a year later, on November 19, 2016. The series is based on a short produced for Frederator's Nicktoons Network animation series Random! Cartoons. The season will follow the adventures of Finn, a human boy, and his best friend and adoptive brother Jake, a dog with magical powers to change shape and grow and shrink at will. Finn and Jake live in the post-apocalyptic Land of Ooo. Along the way, they interact with the other main characters of the show: Princess Bubblegum, The Ice King, and Marceline the Vampire Queen.
The season was storyboarded and written by Tom Herpich, Steve Wolfhard, Seo Kim, Somvilay Xayaphone, Jesse Moynihan, Adam Muto, Ako Castuera, Sam Alden, Kirsten Lepore, Andres Salaff, Hanna K. Nyström, Luke Pearson, Emily Partridge, Kris Mukai, Graham Falk, Kent Osborne, KC Green, Aleks Sennwald, and Polly Guo. The seventh season of Adventure Time features a special miniseries entitled Stakes, which fills in details about Marceline's backstory, and also follows Finn, Jake, Bubblegum, and Marceline as they attempt to defeat several newly resurrected vampires. Both Lepore and Alex & Lindsay Small-Butera were featured this season as guest animators, with the former directing the stop-motion episode "Bad Jubies", and the latter two working on "Beyond the Grotto".
