The novel tells the story of the father in the family who has three kids, who leaves America to come back to Israel in order to get divorced. He is anyway estranged from his wife who has been institutionalized. What follows in the novel is opinions the various family members on his decision and action. This includes: the son, daughter, daughter-in-law, grandson, and of course the couple involved in the divorce.
