In July 2016, Lowery stated in an interview he would be heading to Dallas, Texas to work on another project. In November 2016, it was revealed the project had been shot secretly over the summer with Rooney Mara and Casey Affleck starring in the film. Toby Halbrooks and James M. Johnston will serve as producers under their Sailor Bear banner, alongside Adam Donaghey.
Principal photography took place in July and August in Dallas, Texas, before concluding in September 2016.
