The 27th Regiment Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry was an infantry regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.
The 27th Wisconsin was organized at Milwaukee, Wisconsin and mustered into Federal service March 7, 1863.
The regiment was mustered out on August 5, 1865 in Brownsville, Texas.
The 27th Wisconsin suffered 22 enlisted men killed in action or who later died of their wounds, plus another 5 officers and 232 enlisted men who died of disease, for a total of 259 fatalities.[1]
