The 2018 IIHF World Championship will be hosted by Denmark, as the IIHF announced on May 23, 2014.South Korea will make its debut at the World Championship, having played in the lower divisions previously.
There were two bids to host this championship.
The decision on who hosts the tournament was decided on May 23, 2014. The bid of Denmark received 95 votes, while the bid of Latvia received only 12.
The seeding in the preliminary round will be based on the 2017 IIHF World Ranking, which will end at the conclusion of the 2017 IIHF World Championship.
Denmark and Sweden will play in separate groups, Denmark will play at the Jyske Bank Boxen while Sweden will play at the Royal Arena in Copenhagen.
