The 2017 Coral Welsh Open professional ranking snooker tournament took place at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff from 13 to 19 February 2017. It was the fourteenth ranking event of the 2016/2017 season.

The 2017 Welsh Open was being held as part of a new Home Series, introduced in the 2016/2017 season with the new English Open, Irish Open and Scottish Open tournaments. The tournament's trophy was renamed to the Ray Reardon Trophy in honour of six-time world champion Ray Reardon.

The defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan lost 3–4 against Mark Davis in the last 64.

Stuart Bingham won his first Welsh Open title, beating Judd Trump 9–8 in the final.

The "rolling 147 prize" for a maximum break stood at £10,000.

128 players started the tournament with 12 tables in the arena in the early stages. The first four rounds were played over the best of 7 frames with the quarter finals over 9 frames and the semi finals over the best of 11. The final featured a maximum of 17 frames.
