The 2017 NWHL draft was the third in the history of the National Women's Hockey League (2015). It took place on August 17, 2017 in Brooklyn. Goaltender Katie Burt of Boston College was selected first overall by the Boston Pride. Of note, it marked the first time that the Boston Pride held the first pick overall in the draft. The franchise obtained the first round pick of the Connecticut Whale in the trade that sent Zoe Hickel to the Whale on February 7, 2017.

A total of 20 players were selected over five rounds in the draft. Eleven players selected had competed in the WCHA conference while two of the first round picks were from the defending NCAA national champion Minnesota Golden Gophers.

By nationality, 11 American-born players constituted the highest number of players selected. There were eight Canadians selected, with goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens picked highest (fourth overall to the Isobel Cup champion Boston Pride). Lara Stalder from the UMD Bulldogs became the first Swiss-born player selected in NWHL Draft history. Denisa Křížová would become the first player born in the Czech Republic to be selected in the NWHL Draft, taken by the Connecticut Whale with the 13th pick overall.
