The 2017 Detroit Tigers season will be the team's 117th season. This is the team's second year under a mostly new coaching staff led by fourth year manager Brad Ausmus. The Tigers will open the season on the road against the Chicago White Sox on April 3, with their home opener on April 7 against the Boston Red Sox. The 2017 season will be the first without owner Mike Ilitch, who died on February 10, 2017.
