The 2017 California wildfires are a series of wildfires that are burning across the state of California during the year 2017. A total of 4,625 fires have burned 309,687 acres (1,253.26 km2), according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.

Throughout the early months of 2017, there was significant rainfall over most of California thus ending the state's severe drought conditions. However, according to a report published by the National Interagency Fire Center, the potential for large fires was "expected to remain near normal through the spring, but once fine fuels dry out, there will likely be a spike in grass fire activity.”
