The 2017 Atlanta United FC season is the first season of Atlanta United FC's existence, and their first season in Major League Soccer, the top-tier of American soccer. United will be playing at Bobby Dodd Stadium for the first half of the season, then moving into the Mercedes-Benz Stadium once it is completed. Atlanta United is coached by Gerardo Martino. Outside of MLS, it is expected that Atlanta United will also be participating in the 2017 U.S. Open Cup, as well as various preseason competitions.
This will be the first year since 1981 that a first-division American soccer team has played in Atlanta, since the Atlanta Chiefs dissolved.
