The 2017–18 SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's basketball team will represent Southern Illinois University Edwardsville during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Cougars, led by third year head coach Jon Harris, play their home games at the Vadalabene Center in Edwardsville, Illinois as members of the West Division of the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Cougars finished the 2016–17 season season 6–24, 1–15 in OVC play to finish in last place in the West Division. They failed to qualify for the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
Three starters and three who also played (including a walk-on) return from the 2016–17 team. They were joined by one player who sat out last season as a "redshirt" under NCAA transfer rules and two who were "redshirts" as freshmen to strengthen their academics, one new freshman, and three junior college transfers. Additionally, open tryouts were announced to fill any possible roster openings.
