The 2017–18 I-League will be the 11th season of the I-League, the top Indian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 2007.
Aizawl are the defending champions. NEROCA have entered as the promoted team from the 2016–17 I-League 2nd Division.
All India Football Federation invited bids for new teams on 21 July 2017 from Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ranchi, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Bhopal, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Malappuram and Trivandrum, among others.
A team can register up to Six foreign players, of which two should compulsorily be a national of an Asian Country.
