The 2016 Malaysia Super League (Malay: Liga Super Malaysia 2016) was the 13th season of the highest Malaysian football league since its inception in 2004. The season began on 13 February 2016 and concluded on 22 October 2016.Johor Darul Ta'zim F.C. were the defending champions.
Johor Darul Ta'zim retained the title, winning it for the third consecutive season (their 3rd League title) after beating Terengganu 3–0 on the Matchday 20 on 9 September 2016, thereby becoming the first club in the history of the Malaysia Super League and the Malaysian football championship to win three consecutive championships.
In the end, Johor Darul Ta'zim went through the season without a single defeat – the first team ever to do so in a 22-game league season and were crowned champions for the third time. Johor Darul Ta'zim's "Invincibles" finished the season with 18 wins, 4 draws, 0 defeats and 58 points.
Sime Darby F.C. were relegated to 2016 Malaysia Premier League after finished bottom of in 2015 Malaysia Super League. Meanwhile, ATM FA (11th places) also relegated after losing the play-off to T–Team F.C. who will replaced LionsXII in the league. Kedah and Penang promoted to Malaysia Super League after securing place as champions and runners-up in 2015 Malaysia Premier League.
