The 2016-17 Santiago South Cup season is the current competition of the regional football cup in the southern part of the island of Santiago, Cape Verde. The season started on 25 November and finished on 7 May. The cup competition is organized by the Santiago South Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Santiago Sul, ARFSS). All the matches are played at Estádio da Várzea. Sporting Clube da Praia won their recent cup title. As Sporting Praia were also 2016-17 champions on April 8, Garridos achieved qualification into the upcoming 2017 Santiago South Super Cup, its qualification status is runner-up.
The season is the first that featured a total of 22 clubs and features five rounds. Two additional clubs, Tira Chapéu and Relâmpago competed, the two who competed in the Second Division challenged for the first time, a club each from the Premier Division and both lost a match and were knocked out from further competitions.
The first two matches took place on November 25, the next two on November 26 and the last two on November 27. Teams from the Premier (I) and the Second (II) Divisions entered at this stage.
The first two matches took place on December 22, the Os Garridos-Boa Vista match was rescheduled to December 23 due to that the stadium lights were not working, the third match took also took place on that date, the fourth match took place on December 28 and the next two took place on December 29 and the last two took place on December 30, the last two minutes and stoppage time of the Sporting-Varanda match were to be played on December 30, as Varanda did not showed up, Sporting advanced to the quarterfinals.
The first match took place on January 18, the second on January 25 and the last on February 21. The last two were to take place on January 18 to 25 but were rescheduled.
The first match took place on April 12 and the second took place on April 13.
The final match took place on May 7 and Sporting Praia won their recent cup title in three years after a 5-3 win in the penalty shootout over Os Garridos as the match ended in a goal draw.
