The 2016–17 Celtic da Praia season are in the island division of football (soccer) and is their current season.
Celtic has suffered in the first six rounds of the season. The first two losses Celtic had to Travadores and ADESBA and was placed 9th, then inside the relegation zone in the second round and was 11th. Celtic's first two goals of the season was scored in the second round. Celtic had a minimal relief as they made a scoreless draw with Académica Praia on November 20 and put a position to tenth, a three match losing streak followed to Desportivo, Boavista and Tchadense without any luck in scoring, their position was dropped to 11th, again inside the relegation zone. Celtic Praia's first win of the year and the season was made after defeating Eugénio Lima 0-2 on January 7, another win was made against Benfica Praia 0-2 and a goal draw with Vitória was followed on January 28 where Celtic scored its first home goal. Celtic suffered another loss to Sporting Praia in a rescheduled 8th round match on January 31 and the club was placed 10th. Celtic defeated Garridos a week later, then a two goal draw was made with Travadores. A two match losing streak was followed, first to Bairro, then to Académica. A goal draw was made with Desportivo a week later, then another loss was followed, this time to the city's second greatest club Boavista Praia and was placed ninth. In six matches, another win was made, their fourth in the season after defeating Tchadense 1-3 on March 1 and had a goal less than the club they defeated and brought back the 8th position and another a week later over Eugénio Lima which was the club's first seasonal home win and was 2-1. Their attempted third straight win was thwarted by almighty Sporting as they lost 3-0 to that club, the club scored nothing. Overall scored 19 goals which surpassed Tchadense's goal total 18, a week later it is tied with 19. On April 8, Celtic made their season's last win over Benfica Praia 2-1, on the opposites, they conceded 25 goals and shared with Benfica Praia and was 7th, behind Eugénio Lima and ahead of ADESBA. Celtic scored a total of 21 goals and matched to that of 11th place Os Garridos, also the club conceded 26 goals and became sixth (50/50 zone) and matches with Eugénio Lima's goals they conceded. Celtic lost to the club who will be relegated at the time, Vitória, a historic club at the 21st round and was 1-0. A single goal draw was made with Os Garridos on the final round, a club who previously lost to at the cup, Celtic Praia kicked out Os Garridos from being in the Premier Division in the following season, Celtic finished 8th and scored 22 goals, the club conceded 28 goals, one less then Eugénio Lima's. Of its results, 4 out of 6 losses were away, its home-away draws were 50/50, 14 out of 22 goals were scored away.
