The 2015–16 Desportivo da Praia season were in the island division of football (soccer). The club was regional champion for the 2015-16 season.
The club scored 42 goals and had 14 wins, 5 ties, 3 losses and 47 points.
The 2015-16 season would have a good start in the first few weeks, their first match was on November 15 Their first match of the season was a scoreless draw to Eugênio Lima, a club formerly known as Lapaloma and was their first meeting. Desportivo's first win of the season was on November 20 and defeated Académica Praia by only one goal, the club's second consecutive win was over Delta and their positions hiked to second. Desportivo suffered after losing to their rival Boavista 0-1 and was fifth. Desportivo was lucky again as they defeated Vitória 0-1 on the last match of the year and returned to third. Desportivo's first match of 2016 was with Sporting Praia on January 9 and lost 1-2 but remained third. A week later, the club went to a goal draw with Garridos but their position dropped to sixth. Slowly the club peaked its positions for a few weeks as a two match winning streak followed, Desportivo defeated Celtic and then Travadores, the latter high scoring 0-5 which was Desportivo's second highest. Desportivo was fourth, on February 6, the club was tied with ADESBA by a goal and was ranked 5th. Afterwards a longer four game winning streak followed and defeated Varanda, Eugênio Lima, Académica and Delta, the latter which was on March 25 was the highest scoring which was later tied by Boavista. over a month later and a month after that became the second highest after Sporting Praia's, Desportivo's positions went up to second place. Desportivo went to a scoreless draw with Boavista and was still first. Boavista defeated Vitória 4-0 on March 25 and finally reached the number one position. A week later, Desportivo lost to Sporting 2-1 and was dropped to second and was the club's last loss of the season. Desportivo regained the number one position for the second time after defeating Garridos 3-1. Desportivo's final draw was with Celtic of Achadina de Baixo by a goal, their position was dropped to third. Desportivo defeated Travadores 2-0, the first of their three-game winning streak, with minimal differences, Desportivo stayed at the number one spot for the rest of the season, Desportivo defeated ADESBA and finally Varanda, the final match of the season had Desportivo got the power to kick out Varanda out of the Premier Division in the following season and prevented Varanda from having a point over Garridos and remain in the Premier Division. Desportivo won with 47 points and claimed their next regional championship in 26 years and the first after the split into the two zones. The club in some years qualified into the national championships, their second as regional winner. The club again competed in the national championships in three years.
