The 2014 ASEAN Para Games, officially known as the 7th ASEAN Para Games was a multi-sport event took place in Naypyidaw, Myanmar three weeks after the closing of the 27th Southeast Asian Games from 14 to 20 January 2014 with 359 events in 12 sports and disciplines featured in the games. This was Myanmar's third time to host the Southeast Asian Games, but its first as host for the ASEAN Para Games. Singapore withdrew its hosting rights due to expected delays in the completion of its new national stadium. Myanmar is the sixth country to host the ASEAN Para Games after Malaysia, Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia.
The 2014 ASEAN Para Games is the seventh edition of the ASEAN Para Games since its inception in 2001 and the fifth edition to follow the tradition that the host venue of the Southeast Asian Games is also the host of the ASEAN Para Games, a tradition broken when 2009 ASEAN Para Games was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia instead of Vientiane, Laos and when 2011 ASEAN Para Games was held in Surakarta instead of Jakarta. The tradition has since resumed normal begins this edition onwards.
The final medal tally was led by Indonesia, followed by Thailand and Malaysia with host Myanmar in fifth place. Several games, Asian and National records were broken during the games. The games were deemed generally successful with the rising standard of disabled sports competition amongst the Southeast Asian nations.
The 7th ASEAN Para Games was held in Naypyidaw, Myanmar. Earlier, Myanmar, Vietnam, Philippines and Thailand have revealed their intentions to host the Southeast Asian Games. However, since the latter hosted the 2003, 2005 and 2007 editions respectively, these countries are ineligible to host this edition.
Myanmar held the largest time interval of hosting the games, spanning a time of 44 years. It is also for the very first time Myanmar host the ASEAN Para Games.
