The 2001–02 NBL season was the 24th season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of 11 teams contested the league, The free-to-air television network ABC did not returned this season only showing on Fox Sports on Foxtel.
The home and away season took place over 24 rounds between 11 October 2001 and 23 March 2002 with finals starting 27 March 2002 until 8 April 2002 and grand final on 12-19 April 2002.
