1-Chloro-1,2,2,2-tetrafluoroethane, C2HClF4, also called R-124, is a hydrochlorofluorocarbon used as a refrigerant.
The chemical is also marketed for use as a gaseous fire suppressant. One trade name is FE-241. Protected areas are normally unoccupied requiring an automatic fire suppression system. Other clean agents are approved for occupied areas but are more expensive (see Dupont's FM-200heptafluoropropane.
