The 1999–2000 NBL season was the 22nd season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of 11 teams contested the league. The Newcastle Falcons folded and were replaced by the Cairns Taipans.

The home and away season took place over 24 rounds between 2 October 1999 and 11 March 2000 with finals starting 15 March 2000 until 3 April 2000 and grand final on 7-12 April 2000.

* The game between the Sydney Kings and West Sydney Razorbacks at the Sydney Super Dome attracted the NBL record attendance of 17,803
