The 1996 Players Championship was a golf tournament on the PGA Tour contested from March 28–31 at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It was the 23rd Players Championship. Fred Couples won the tournament by four strokes from Colin Montgomerie and Tommy Tolles. It was Couples second win in the Players Championship, having previously won it in 1984.
This was the 15th Players Championship held at the TPC at Sawgrass Stadium Course in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
