The 1992 NBL season was the 14th season of competition since its establishment in 1979. A total of 13 teams contest the league, Southern Melbourne did not returned this season.
The home and away season took place over 22 rounds between 3 April 1992 and 26 September 1992 with final series on 28 September 1992 until 18 October 1992 and grand final on 24 October until 1 November 1992.
There were eight quarter finals, four semi-finals, and then best of three grand final. All three of these finals were sudden death.
