The 1992–93 NBA season was the Kings' 44th season in the National Basketball Association, and 8th season in Sacramento. Under new head coach Garry St. Jean, the Kings got off to a fast start winning their first three games. However, they continued to struggle as they were plagued with injuries, as Mitch Richmond played just 45 games due to a broken thumb. With a record of 6–16, the Kings went on a six-game winning streak. However, they went on to lose 21 of their next 26 games while posting an awful 2–12 record in February. The Kings finished last place in the Pacific Division with a 25–57 record. Top draft pick Walt Williams made the All-Rookie Second Team, and Richmond was selected for the 1993 NBA All-Star Game, but did not play due to being injured. Following the season, Anthony Bonner signed as a free agent with the New York Knicks.
