The 1989-90 Cleveland Cavaliers season was the 21st season of the National Basketball Association in Cleveland, Ohio. The Cavaliers got off to a slow start with Brad Daugherty, Mark Price and Larry Nance all injured, losing their first four games. However, Price and Nance would return, but Daugherty would be out for the rest of the season. Early into the season, they traded Ron Harper to the Los Angeles Clippers for rookie Danny Ferry, who went to play in Italy. The Cavaliers struggled playing below .500 for most of the season, but finished it on a strong note winning their final six games. The team finished the season with a 42–40 record, finishing 4th in the Central Division. Price led the team in assists as the Cavs advanced to the playoffs. In the first round of the playoffs, the Cavaliers lost in five games to the Philadelphia 76ers.
