The 1986 Cal State Northridge Matadors football team represented Cal State Northridge during the 1986 NCAA Division II football season.

Cal State Northridge competed in the Western Football Conference (WFC). The 1986 Matadors were led by first-year head coach Bob Burt. They played home games at Devonshire Downs in Northridge, California. Cal State Northridge finished the season with a record of eight wins and three losses (8–3, 1–4 WFC). The Matadors outscored their opponents 307–198 for the season.
