The 1985-86 NBA season was the Mavericks' 6th season in the NBA.
Dallas continued its strong play, finishing the season at 44-38, earning them the number 4 spot. They defeated the Utah Jazz in the opening round, but couldn't survive a Los Angeles Lakers squad that featured Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as they lost the series in six games.
