The 1983 Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens football team represented the University of Delaware in the 1983 NCAA Division I-AA football season, as an Independent. They were led by Tubby Raymond, who was in his 18th season as head coach of the Fightin' Blue Hens. The 1983 season was B.J. Webster’s first and only season as the Blue Hens starting Quarterback. Webster holds the team record for most passes attempted in a game, which he accomplished in the team’s final game of the season against Bucknell. He attempted the fourth most passes in a season for the Blue Hens with 302, but also threw the most interceptions in a season, with 24 in the 1983 campaign. The team played its home games at Delaware Stadium in Newark, Delaware.
