The 1982 Clemson Tigers football team represented Clemson University during the 1982 NCAA Division I-A football season. Clemson was placed on probation near the end of the season for recruiting violations, and was ineligible for a bowl bid. "I was a senior on the 1982 team, and we voted as seniors to accept the unprecedented extra year of probation which the ACC handed down on top of two year NCAA sanctions. We were offered the invitation to play SMU in the Cotton Bowl, and turned it down so that the future teams at Clemson could accept a bowl invitation in 1985." (Carl Martin)
