Cal State Northridge competed in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The 1980 Matadors were led by second-year head coach Tom Keele. They played home games at Devonshire Downs in Northridge, California. Cal State Northridge finished the season with a record of five wins and six losses (5–6, 1–1 CCAA).
