The 1971 San Jose State Spartans football team represented San Jose State College during the 1971 University Division football season as a member of the Pacific Coast Athletic Association. The team was led by second year head coach DeWayne "Dewey" King. They played home games at Spartan Stadium in San Jose, California. The Spartans finished the season with a record of five wins, six losses and one tie (5–6–1, 4–1 PCAA).

At the end of the season, the Spartans qualified for the postseason Pasadena Bowl game against the Memphis State Tigers. Memphis State won the game, 9–28.

No San Jose State players were selected in the 1972 NFL Draft.
