The 1962 San Diego Chargers season began with the team trying to improve on their 12–2 record in 1961. The Chargers finished third in the AFL West at 4–10 that season. At the time it was their worst ever season. This would be the only time the Chargers would endure a losing season during their AFL days.
Note: Tie games were not officially counted in the standings until 1972.
