The 1949 San Francisco State Gators football team represented San Francisco State College during the 1949 college football season.

San Francisco State competed in the Far Western Conference (FWC). The Gators were led by head coach Dick Boyle. Boyle was in the fourth year of his second stint as head coach of the team. They played home games at Cox Stadium in San Francisco, California. The team finished the season with a record of three wins, four losses and one tie (3–4–1, 1–2–1 FWC). For the season the team was outscored by its opponents 260–180.

No San Francisco State players were selected in the 1950 NFL Draft.
