Zainab Chaudry


Zainab Chaudry is an American Muslim civil rights and political activist. She is a board member of the Interfaith Action for Human Rights, and works with America's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization.

Chaudry is the first Muslim appointed to the Maryland State Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights - an independent, bipartisan agency established by Congress in 1957 that advises the President and Congress on civil rights matters.

She is a Fellow of the American Muslim Civic Leadership Institute, and the Maryland Public Policy Conflict Resolution Fellowship at the University Of Maryland Carey School Of Law.

She was a 'Nominated Changemaker' at the 2016 White House Summit on the United State of Women.

In 2016, she was recognized as one of the Baltimore Sun's 25 'Women to Watch'.

Working with the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights and the Maryland Governor's Office on Community Initiatives, Chaudry organized Maryland's first statewide emergency preparedness summit for interfaith leaders.

She blogs for the Huffington Post on topics such as Muslims, women, and minorities. She has appeared in national and international media including TIME, MSNBC, Huffington Post, PolicyMic, The Guardian, New York Times, Mediate, Washington Post, Al-Jazeera, BBC, CNN, Reuters, CCTV, VICE, and others.
