Urgent Care Association of America

The Urgent Care Association of America (UCAOA) is a membership association, founded in 2004, representing professionals that work in urgent care centers located throughout the United States and across the world including Australia, Canada, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Mexico, and New Zealand.

UCAOA offers educational and professional development resources including live webinars, convention recordings, and self-paced learning content through its Online Education portal, in addition to providing resources for starting a new urgent care center, providing clinical care in the urgent care setting, and running a successful urgent care practice. UCAOA also holds two annual educational events: the National Urgent Care Convention and the Urgent Care Fall Conference. Additionally, UCAOA conducts a biennial Benchmarking Survey and publishes the findings in a report to provide insights into the emerging trends shaping the urgent care industry.

UCAOA offers four fellowships in urgent care: University Hospitals Case Medical Center Department of Family Medicine; University of Nevada School of Medicine/Department of Family and Community Medicine; Staten Island Physician Practice (SIPP) and JFK Family Medicine Residency Program; and University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford/Swedish American Hospital.

UCAOA publishes the Journal of Urgent Care Medicine (JUCM). The Journal is published in conjunction with Braveheart Publishing. It has regular columns on medical coding, legal aspects of urgent care, occupational medicine. It also contains UCAOA updates and reviews of the literature related to urgent care medicine.

In 2009, the Urgent Care Association of America established national criteria for urgent care centers with their Certified Urgent Care designation. The program sets standards for hours of operation, staffing, and services patients can expect to be available. The CUC designation helps patients, payers and other interested parties identify true full-service urgent care centers.
