Roy Wood Jr. (born December 11, 1978) is an American comedian and actor from Birmingham, Alabama. In 2015, Wood started as a correspondent at The Daily Show.

Wood attended Florida A&M University, during which he worked as a morning news reporter for Hot 105.7, a radio station in Tallahassee in Florida. He began focusing on a career in comedy as a student working at the station to fill in for the station's comedian, who "used to leave the station early, so I'd stay and crack jokes during the rest of the show," and missed his midterm tests to open for Tommy Davidson. Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism in 2001, Wood returned to his hometown and became the head writer/producer for the Buckwilde Morning Show (WBHJ 95.7 JAMZ) in Birmingham, a position he held until 2007. A salary dispute led Wood to leave the show and move to Los Angeles. During this time, he continued working in radio, providing prank calls and content to various morning shows nationally and contributing to Jamie Foxx's Foxxhole station on Sirius XM Radio.

In 2010, Wood finished third in the 7th season of NBC's Last Comic Standing and began hosting his own morning show, The Roy Wood Jr Show. The show garnered top ratings and won 'Large Market Morning Show Of The Year' from the Alabama Broadcasters Association for several years. Despite the solid ratings, Wood and the station parted ways after two years due to scheduling conflicts created by his role in the TBS sitcom Sullivan & Son, which required Wood to return to Los Angeles. From 2011 - 2014, Wood appeared on Sullivan & Son; appearing as a guest star in the first season, he was promoted to series regular for the second and third seasons before the show's cancellation in 2014. The following year, he was cast by ABC to play alongside Whoopi Goldberg in the comedy pilot Delores And Jermaine; the show did not make it beyond the pilot stage. Wood is currently a regular contributor to ESPN's Sportsnation, @midnight on Comedy Central and frequents Conan.
