Nataniël le Roux (born August 30, 1962 in Grahamstown), referred to simply as Nataniël, is a South African singer, songwriter, author, entertainer and entrepreneur. He launched his career in 1987 with the release of his first single, Maybe Time. Since then he has released 16 albums, staged more than 70 original theatre productions and published 15 books. Nataniël manages a company specializing in lifestyle goods called Kaalkop, which means "bald" in Afrikaans, but implies "honest" or "unpretentious". He hosted Die Nataniel Tafel, a cooking and entertainment program, on kykNET from 2012-2014.

Nataniël was born August 30, 1962 to Eben and Marie le Roux. He is the oldest of four children and has two brothers, Ian (a university maths lecturer) and Erik (a chef) and a sister, Madri (an entrepreneur). His father, Eben, studied to be a preacher but worked at a transport company. His mother, Marie, was a teacher. As a result of his father's career, they moved a lot and lived in many cities including Riebeek-Kasteel, Porterville and Kuilsrivier in the Cape. He started piano lessons at school and played the organ in church.

Initially he was a concert pianist and musical director and started singing after about three years. Because established agents and producers ignored him, he started his own record label and publishing house, Nataniël House of Music. He then proceeded to build a cult following and his stage performances were almost always sold out. He produces more than two stage productions per year on average and has on occasion performed at the Royal Albert Hall in London. Two of his operas as well as several other compositions were performed and recorded by the Stellenbosch Conservatorium.

Initially he performed as a cabaret artist, but soon grew his repertoire to include Soul, Blues and Classical Jazz. His stage productions often include self-penned stories as well as his music. He has also written stage productions for several other artists including “Head on” (for Lydia von Hagen in 1994), “Bulldozer” (for Anna Rossouw in 1994), “In glass” (for Elsabé Zietsman in 1995) and “Boom!” (for Lizz Meiring in 1996).

He has published several books on various topics including the text to his stage productions, original short stories and cooking. Through his company Kaalkop he has also established a fashion line and sells a range of branded products.
